It was a massive monolithic ASP.NET application, with large swaths done with ASP.NET WebForms and a slow frontier of ASP.NET MVC gradually growing when I was working there. This application was responsible for practically everything that ran the factory: inventory, supply chain management, cost analysis, etc. Elon is a big Windows fan and pushed hard to run the whole shop on Microsoft tech. Tra la Luna dell'altra sera e Marte di ieri sera mi sta venendo la tentazione di un telescopio. Ha senso? Perché da alcune cose che leggo sembra che se non spendi almeno 600 euro e non vivi in mezzo al deserto non vedi nulla. Però non capisco se sono le solite esagerazioni da hobbista oppure onesti avvertimenti.

In più sono rimasto un po' scottato da una serata organizzata dal locale circolo astrofili (in città, va detto) in cui abbiamo guardato nello strumento e si intravedeva un punto luminoso non visibile a occhio nudo. Ma non è che fosse particolarmente entusiasmante. - Andrea Tassi - -

Poi ho visto anche le stelle doppie del Grande Carro, Mizar e Alcor. E lì l'epifania: Mizar, Alcor, Vega, dove ho già sentito questi nomi? E vuoi vedere che c'entra anche Actarus? E infatti: molto probabilmente è la trascrizione fonetica di Arcturus (Arturo, altra stella parecchio luminosa) pronunciato all'inglese. Riferimenti culturali elevatissimi. - Andrea Tassi - [ 3 ] -

Potrei usare google ma è molto più divertente chiedere qui: la ISS ha i motori? Pensavo di no (almeno non per il moto normale) ma ieri mi ero messo il promemoria per il passaggio sulla testa e in contemporanea si sentiva un rumore. Se non sono i motori può essere una sorta di cavitazione? Oppure (ciao Occam) stava passando un aereo in contemporanea e non me ne sono accorto?

Intanto stamattina SpaceX ha lanciato (e rirecuperato) il primo Block V già lanciato nello spazio, un primo stadio che, in teoria, non ha subito nessun tipo di intervento fra un volo e l'altro.

E parliamo un po' della Parker Solar Probe. Il decollo è previsto questo 11 Agosto e servirà a studiare il sole da vicino. Quanto vicino? Parecchio vicino, praticamente dentro il Sole, circa 6 milioni di chilometri nel punto di massimo avvicinamento giusto nel bel mezzo della corona solare, ambientino tranquillo ad un po' più di un milione di gradi e con campi magnetici "fortini".
