My dreams have typography. Gill Sans medium-weight, to be exact. I cannot begin to imagine why; I quit using Gill Sans years ago because it's overused.

"Never," said Kareen with passion, "ever suggest they don't have to pay you. What they pay for, they'll value. What they get for free, they'll take for granted, and then demand as a right. Hold them up for all the market will bear."

"I once thought—I only found this out when I grew old, understand—that there is no more terrible fate than to become the mentor. To be able to tell how, yet not to do. To send your protégé out, all bright and beautiful, to stand your fire . . . I think I've found a worse fate. To send your student out knowing damn well you haven't had a chance to teach enough. . . ."

"Crepuscular." What a crapulent word. It gets used a lot in 19th-20th c. gooey-romantic-orientalist Spanish-language poetry, and I just cannot with it. It's gross. - Ondatra iSkoolicus - - (Edit | Remove)

After ankle and knee pain for the last couple years, I have been making myself ride one gear down from where I would have before, and it seems to be working. (I also learned I can't bike in soft-soled shoes. Oh, well.)

I'm glad you found something that worked. While I wouldn't bike in really soft shoes, I do bike in athletic shoes. I no longer bike in hard leather-soled shoes after an accident where my dancing boots slipped off the pedal, landing my coccyx right on the end of the bike seat. I was in excruciating pain for weeks. Couldn't sit. - Spidra Webster - - (Edit | Remove)
owwwwwwwww. mostly I bike in Keen sandals, so not too far from athletic shoes. I had some thin-flexible-soled walking shoes, and for whatever reason those just killed my ankles riding uphill. - Ondatra iSkoolicus - - (Edit | Remove)
