Update on my mom: Mom is still in the ICU, but they are slowly removing various tubes and IV's. She is able to talk now, though she is still very tired. I am hopeful they will move her to a regular room tomorrow. It also looks like she will have to spend some time in a Rehab Center once she leaves the hospital. Thank for all your prayers so far.

A little tired today. Not sleeping too well and too much driving back and forth I guess. About to go up and see my mom for the first time today. I am hoping they will move her to a regular room sometime today.

Mom is now off the ventilator. Thanks for your good thoughts and prayers. She is very weak and unable to swallow, but hopefully that will be better tomorrow.

Finally got to the hospital at 9 pm. Mom had triple bypass surgery yesterday. The doctors had wanted to do 4, but they didn't have enough veins to work with. She is still on the ventilator and is still very weak. Continued prayers and positive thoughts appreciated.

My mom had "minor" heart attack the other day and will be having bypass surgery on Monday. I will be driving home to Kentucky to visit with her late Monday/early Tuesday for about a week. Keep her in your thoughts and/or prayers. Her name is Ruthie.

Being Christian consists in realizing that we don’t “owe” God a single thing; it’s not as though, in giving, he’s parted with something, and become poorer or more diminished because of it. My religious thought for today comes from Stephen Mitchell's "The Gospel According to Jesus." Mitchell is a student of the world's religions, and among works, he has translated the book of Job, the Tao, and the teachings of Jesus.
In Jesus' sayings, it may seem as if God's forgiveness is dependent on ours. "Forgive us our wrongs, as we forgive those who have wronged us." "For if you forgive others their offenses, your heavenly father will forgive you." "If you don't judge, you will not be judged; if you don't condemn, you will not be condemned;if you forgive, you will be forgiven." But these ifs have only one side, like a Mobius strip.

One of life's necessary truths. Thanks for bringing light on the basic principal of forgiveness. It is a principal employed in Psychology/Psychiatry as well for emotional and mental health. Offenses are just a part of life and we all face them, so having an internal compass to navigate through and around them is of great benefit .... and it definitely can be a process. No condemnation for the length of time it takes different people to work through varying degrees of offensive circumstances as background situations and personalities and other variables come into play.

Well, it looks like the SEC isn't as weak as many commentators made it out to be. Three of the top 16 teams (if Tennessee beats Mercer that is).

Great minds think alike. Or experience the same things. The synchronicity of our posts at least brought a smile to my face.

After making my comments on this post earlier: http://friendfeed.com/iphwin... , I ran across this quote in my reading this evening: "When you think about it, faith as belief is relatively impotent. You can believe all the right things and still be a jerk. And to soften that: you can believe all the right things and still be miserable. . . .
or still be in bondage, still be untransformed. So the emphasis upon belief is, I think, modern and mistaken. It's also very divisive -- once people start thinking that being a Christian is about believing right things, then anybody's list of what the right things are to believe becomes a litmus test as to who's really a good Christian and who's not."
