If they weren't paranoid lunatics with hair triggers, this "Texas is being secretly invaded by the US" thing would just be hilarious.
We laugh about it here in San Antonio, but these goofballs are just up the freeway from us. It surprises us not.

there's a "south was invaded by Italy" here. The similar movement from the north is probably more famous abroad. And they adopted the confederate flag :-/ United revanche feelings :-/

Imagine if people fought oppression with half the energy they do fighting being labelled with straight/white/male/cis/able/etc privilege.

As entertaining as that IHOP brandisher thread is, I'm pretty sure a real IHOP would have just used ye olde manual credit card machines.

Your fav acts are gonna be problematic sometimes. You're not necessarily a bad person for liking them, but don't be a defensive baby either.
(re the reverse bungee ride called the Catapult that recently failed spectacularly (but didn't injure anyone through dumb luck))

I spent a few minutes cleaning up the formatting of a document only I use to keep track of worthwhile lunch spots near work.

Jeb's "you people need to work more" theory also ignores that productivity has soared but nearly all income gains have gone to richest 1%.
That's the mythology, though. There are no working poor. There are only freeloading welfare moochers, and honest, hardworking Americans, and you can't /possibly/ be poor and working yourself to death. Anything else breaks the whole story. There's such a massive disconnect between the reality that most people are living, and the one that they're being told is true.

.@RexHuppke but does it make any kind of sense? Productivity gains haven't gone to workers in decades. Also, 4% growth target is absurd.
Deep Twitter would correlate tweets with contemporaneous news stories, then generate new fake tweets for before Twitter was invented.

"Google engineers are using their layered artificial neural network, also called a deep network, to create unseen views from two or more images of a scene. They call it "Deep Stereo." For example, if you have a photo from the left and right of a scene, the deep network will tell you what it looks like from anywhere the middle. Or if there are five photos of a room, the deep network can render unique views of what the room would look like from other angles, based on what it thinks should be there."

I remember in ST:TNG when Picard used the holodeck to recreate a date he had years ago ( http://en.memory-alpha.wi... ) and I thought it was ridiculous, but damn, in the 21st century, Google is already working on reconstructing 3D spaces from photos, and it has a large amount of the urban first world in Google Street View...
