I've never ordered delivery. It's not some weird point of pride; I just never got around to it.

The more ridiculous the spelling of "vampire", the more goth. "Vampyre": good. "Vampyr": better. "Dhampyr": ultimate.

"At the time, the shelves of stationery stores were already stocked with blank books" - Wikipedia, dryly implying Moleskines are ridiculous.
1 decade ago - Comment - Hide - - - (Edit | Remove) - More...
I get why people find the Moleskine cult attraction annoying, but I also love that its popularity (along with people like Field Notes) means that lots of imitators have flooded the market with nice, plain notebooks. They weren't always easy to find around here growing up, and now they're fairly ubiquitous. Most of what was there would be cheap spiral books with stuff printed on it. - Jennifer D. - - (Edit | Remove)

"As an experiment in finding and developing talent, it failed. But that was never its value. Project Greenlight was a great long-form process documentary that showed its viewers something more instructive: Why most movies don't work." - Andrew C - - (Edit | Remove)

"you have to put yourself in your movies." It's only a shame Roland Emmerich hasn't made a Malcolm X biopic… yet.

http://www.buzzfeed.com/s... "From the looks of things [in the trailer], said naysayers, Danny -- a fictional character inserted into a historical event of monumental significance to the LGBT community -- was being painted as Stonewall's hero, rather than the real-life trans women, butch dykes, and drag queens of color many argue were at the forefront of the turmoil that hot summer night. [...] The trailer doesn't mischaracterize Emmerich's film: Danny is the centerpiece of Stonewall, a decision Emmerich made, in part, in an effort to attract a wider audience who could connect with him." - Andrew C - - (Edit | Remove)

Selma might be a good example, though. It includes the women (and gay men) who have often been left out of the popular narratives, without offering up a white sympathy character as more important than the others. - Jennifer D. - - (Edit | Remove)

Stonewall Is Terribly Offensive, and Offensively Terrible - http://www.vanityfair.com...

"Danny shuns the advances of any younger man who isn't strapping and white, particularly those of Jonny Beauchamp's Ray/Ramona, a queer Latino street kid who has a big crush on pretty-boy Danny. Rather horrifically, it's taken as a given, an implicit fact, that Danny could never, ever fall in love with, or have sex with, someone like swishy, gender-fluid Ray. No, no, people like Ray are meant to forever pine in the shadows for American godlings like Danny. But when Jonathan Rhys Meyers's character successfully seduces Danny, while playing "A Whiter Shade of Pale" on a jukebox no less, it's understood to be O.K., because he's at least a somewhat masculine white guy.
