As an evolving and at times contradictory suite of doctrines extending its influence from high finance and international law to the intimate spaces of family life, neoliberalism evades characterisation as a coherent philoso- phy, and is only loosely captured in calls for privatisation, deregulation, fiscal austerity, and ‘limited’ government.
