Down the street from me are two small apartment buildings that I have sworn for months have been unoccupied. Today, I Googled, and learned why. Just as I suspected, they are right in the path of the planned Purple Line construction, and will be sold and demolished.

I probably should have looked this up a while ago, when I first saw a proposed map of the Purple Line and realized that it was cutting very close to cutting into my building's backyard -- literally. This will involve a tunnel. This means blasting and driving. These buildings on the street are over 65 years old, and already starting to fall apart a bit. - Julian - -

Even the buildings which aren't part of the actual construction might be slated by their owners for sale/demolition once the line is in. During the big construction, things are in flux, but once they finish, there can be a rapidly increasing demand for land right by the lines. - Jennifer D. - [ 1 ] -

Imagine a food court. Even better, a food court that is somewhat similar to Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis, or the Lancaster Central Market. (I have visited both in the past, so they came to mind.) Perhaps something a bit smaller. Now, take out the various vendors, and put in... bars. A decent variety of different bars from which to choose, at which to enjoy a nice libation. Several in the same place.
