Tomorrow's sermon has been a hard one to write. It is almost finished, but I am not liking it at all. Oh well, you can't hit a home run every week, right? Sometimes you just get a base hit, and sometimes you just strike out.
The Word works through you. You never know who it's going to reach. Be joyous in your ability to spread it. :)

Seriously Google . . . you send me an email about a post I might have missed on Google+ from a person I don't even know, and said person's post consists of one word: "sup." For the love of God, stop.

Yeah. I skip out on it too much as it is, and since I am one of only two tenors I kinda feel obligated. If and when I move to a new church, however, I am not joining the choir.

Is it bad that I, as a pastor, still find Sam Kinison's riff on the Lord's Supper and Jesus in exasperation finally telling his disciples to "Eat me!" one of the funniest comedy routines I have ever heard?
I think one of the most important things ever said to me about religion was this, and I'm paraphrasing for brevity: 'Don't think you're closer to God just because you're in a church.' And I think it goes in both directions. And a Rabbi later taught me: 'Don't believe in the Bible just because it's the Bible.'

Officiated at a wedding this evening for some friends I met on twitter. Came home at 8 pm exhausted and fell asleep. Woke up at 12:30 and now cannot get back to sleep. Oh well. I've had time to work on my sermon at least.

Even though it is very early on Saturday morning (1:32 am), I am actually working on my sermon for Sunday . . . have been for several hours now. I have no idea why.

Wow, there are a couple of real racists on friendfeed. I didn't know this until now. Oh well, I won't be seeing their posts or comments again. Good riddance, and thank God the "Block" function still works.
One thing I've noticed on Korean TV (and I could be wrong) is that they seem to use 'Oriental' to denote China and 'Eastern' to indicate northern Asian countries.

I must be fighting off something. All I did today was cart Desiree to her classes and play production meeting. The rest of the time I spent sleeping, and this was after seven hours of sleep last night. I'm not feeling bad, per se, just very, very tired.

Last night I had a dream that featured someone I have a bit of a crush on (no one from friendfeed this time). About halfway through the dream my ex-wife appeared, instantaneously transforming my dream into a nightmare.
"A Louisiana church deacon has been charged with murder after he allegedly shot the church pastor twice while he was preaching to his congregation. Ronald J. Harris Sr. a pastor for the Tabernacle of Praise Worship Center, was killed during a Friday night revival service in front of more than 60 congregants, including his wife."

Well we had around 600 people from the community attend our second Fall Family Fun Festival today. They all got a free meal, free entertainment (including a reptile show, juggler, clowns, face painting, bounce house, and our very own Jim singing and strumming on the guitar), and it was the perfect day for it.
We might even get a few visitors to the church from it. All in all a good day, but I am exhausted. :^) I still have to meet some friends for dinner at King of Prussia, and then write my sermon (which has been on hold all week long because of preparations for today). I will probably get very little sleep tonight.
