Increasingly, the only thing religion has left to justify itself is that it provides cover for people who want to have bigoted, selfish beliefs but want to believe they are good people anyway. And have I said that Desiree's English professor in this Community College is perhaps the toughest teacher I have encountered in my ten years of higher education in which I earned a B.S, M.P.A, and a M.Div. all of which were with highest honors. I ate a thin slice of the birthday cake my daughter and Cordelia made for me yesterday. It was made from scratch and is a chocolate cake with peanut butter icing. It's really good, but I can only eat very small portions of it,
