"The report takes issue with Malaysia’s “extremely high effective tariff rates” on alcohol and its strict licensing policy for the importation of pork – strange “barriers” to highlight in a country where three out of every five people are Muslim. Malaysia’s halal standards for meat have also been targeted as a “barrier” in a companion USTR report on Technical Barriers to Trade." - Nils Sandin - - (Edit | Remove)

"Dan Greding was installing a roadside parking sign warning motorists of a 75-minute parking limit when a Santa Barbara cop gave him a ticket for parking for more than 75 minutes. "I said, 'But I'm putting these signs up,'" Greding told KEYT. "And [the officer] says, 'Then you should know you can't park here more than 75 minutes.' I said, 'Well, I haven't put the sign up yet, so you can't write me a ticket.'" He fought the ticket and lost. He's appealing." - Nils Sandin - - (Edit | Remove)

For years, the US government loudly warned the world that Chinese routers and other internet devices pose a "threat" because they are built with backdoor surveillance functionality that gives the Chinese government the ability to spy on anyone using them. via Pocket - Nils Sandin - - (Edit | Remove)

"In the new draft, Mr. Wheeler is sticking to the same basic approach but will include language that would make clear that the FCC will scrutinize the deals to make sure that the broadband providers don't unfairly put nonpaying companies' content at a disadvantage, according to an agency official." - Nils Sandin - - (Edit | Remove)

"If you’ve ever wanted a visual history of photographic cameras, this poster by Retrofuturismo-Kitsch, should suit your needs. Taking a look as far back as basic camera obscuras and all the way up to the Sony Mavica, this graphic pulls out some of the most iconic – and unusual – cameras to ever hit the market." - Nils Sandin - - (Edit | Remove)

"The House of Mouse is pouring a tremendous amount of time and money into Star Wars, and Disney could be the new arbiter of the Holy Grail of Star Wars requests: a remastered release of the unedited, non-special-edition original trilogy." - Nils Sandin - - (Edit | Remove)
