This one is for you, Texas. This morning was the second lunar eclipse, aka. Blood Moon, of 2014. After the success of my first lunar eclipse image from this past April, I decided I would give this one a whirl. I wanted to keep it Texas themed, so I found this incredible barn just south of Waco, Texas, and spent a few hours with it and the blood moon. This is a composite image showing the transition of the moon phases throughout the eclipse. This took place from about 4am to 7:30am. I hope you all truly enjoy! Please, share this and help it get out there! Prints available here: <a rel="nofollow" href="http://goo.gl/ZxuJsP"... ; - GuitarBuster - - (Edit | Remove)

Midcentury modern homes gain popularity | Fort Worth | News from Fort Worth, Dallas, Arl... - http://www.star-telegram.com/2014...

The style is increasingly popular with home buyers, and it’s a conversation piece for architecture and midcentury buffs in magazines such as Atomic Ranch and Dwell and local websites like mid2mod. com. - GuitarBuster - - (Edit | Remove)
Gospel music producer James Roberson recently moved back to the Fort Worth area from Los Angeles and was looking for a house that could handle his oversize art collection. While searching the south Fort Worth neighborhood of Wedgwood, he found a foreclosed midcentury home for sale. It needed a lot of work, but that didn’t deter Roberson, who grew up in Oak Cliff. After buying the house a few weeks ago, he is in full renovation mode and hopes to complete the work by spring. When he’s finished, he’ll have room for his artwork, a renovated kitchen and a recording studio. - GuitarBuster - - (Edit | Remove)

'Man with the golden arm' James Harrison saves 2million babies in half a century of donating rare blood | Daily Mail Online - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news...

An Australian man who has been donating his extremely rare kind of blood for 56 years has saved the lives of more than two million babies. James Harrison, 74, has an antibody in his plasma that stops babies dying from Rhesus disease, a form of severe anaemia. He has enabled countless mothers to give birth to healthy babies, including his own daughter, Tracey, who had a healthy son thanks to her father's blood. Mr Harrison has been giving blood every few weeks since he was 18 years old and has now racked up a total of 984 donations. - GuitarBuster - - (Edit | Remove)

Loan gives low-income borrowers a chance to build equity fast - LA Times - http://www.latimes.com/busines...
1 decade ago from Friendfeed - Comment - Hide - - - (Edit | Remove) - More...
Two major banks have agreed to originate a new 15-year mortgage under pilot programs aimed at low- and moderate-income borrowers. In addition, the creators of the so-called Wealth Building Home Loan, which allows home buyers to build equity at a much faster clip than they would with a standard 30-year loan, are planning to bring their ideas to 10 other institutions over the next few weeks. Still, Edward Pinto thinks it might take months or even years for the product to become universal, if it becomes a regular offering at all. But Pinto and his co-conspirator, Bruce Marks, generated major buzz when they introduced the Wealth Building Home Loan at a mortgage conference in North Carolina in early September. - GuitarBuster - - (Edit | Remove)

Spidra, this article mentions how the two 'co-conspirators' met and developed their plan. One is from American Enterprise Institute, the other is from the Neighborhood Assistance Corp. It does sound interesting, but on the other hand, my distrust level is really high. - GuitarBuster - - (Edit | Remove)

JPMorgan Not the Only Bank Hacked - JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM) - 24/7 Wall St. - http://247wallst.com/banking...

As if the hacking attack on JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM) was not bad enough, the attackers apparently were able to strike at up to nine other financial institutions. The attack on JPMorgan resulted in the theft of 76 million households’ records and the records of 7 million small businesses. The New York Times reported Friday that unnamed sources have said that about nine unnamed financial institutions have been hit by the same group of foreign hackers. The Times noted, “The hackers are thought to be operating from Russia and appear to have at least loose connections with officials of the Russian government.” - GuitarBuster - - (Edit | Remove)

Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter to join rebuilding effort in Oak Cliff neighborhood | Dallas Morning News - http://www.dallasnews.com/news...
1 decade ago from Friendfeed - Comment - Hide - - - (Edit | Remove) - More...
A loud and productive week lies ahead for an east Oak Cliff neighborhood. It will be a time for hammers and saws, traffic and crowds. Plus two special guests: Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter. In town for their 31st annual Carter Work Project, the former president and former first lady will help Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity continue revitalizing an area called Oak Cliff Gardens. For five days starting Monday, volunteers will build 30 houses and repair 20 others near the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The residents receiving the homes will participate as well, putting in the “sweat equity” that covers their down payments for zero-interest Habitat housing loans. The 50-property push isn’t Dallas Habitat’s first building blitz. With this week’s effort, the group will have built 1,211 houses since 1986. But buoyed by the Carter project and support from Habitat for Humanity International, “this is by far the largest,” said Bill Hall, the Dallas organization’s chief executive. The work continues the nonprofit’s engagement with Oak Cliff Gardens, one of its six target neighborhoods. When the Carter project is complete, Habitat volunteers will have built 96 homes and repaired 49 others there, a $12.5 million investment. - GuitarBuster - - (Edit | Remove)

The Not The Finger In The Ear Show http://www.youtube.com/watch...
1 decade ago from Friendfeed - Comment - Hide - - - (Edit | Remove) - More...
The Not The Finger In The Ear Show was made as an Open Door project for BBC2 in 1982, designed to give a better idea of what might be found in a typical folk club of the day than all the stereotype images that abounded at the time. Filmed at Shackleford Social Centre in Surrey, the performers - who all gave their services for free - were Pete & Chris Coe, Maggie Holland, Martin Simpson and Peta Webb & Webb's Wonders. They all ended up the evening by coming together as a dance band with caller Eddie Upton. The club MC was Lawrence Heath (with his famous jumper), and the programme was devised and introduced by Ian Anderson on behalf of the EFDSS. Colin Irwin appears as himself. No pewter tankards were harmed in the making of this programme. - GuitarBuster - - (Edit | Remove)
