Granny Smith and Gala apples sold by a California company, Bidart Brothers, are being recalled – and consumers are being told to throw out any they have at home. The apples have been linked to a listeria outbreak in 11 states, which sickened 32 people including one in North Texas. A seventh death was reported just this weekend. - GuitarBuster - - (Edit | Remove)

Sarab, meaning Oasis in Arabic strives to change the social reality of the Bedouins of the Negev by providing quality music education, starting with children in elementary schools. Music is the perfect antidote: Music develops creativity, attentiveness, and appreciation of beauty; it provides a feeling of identity and belonging and brings people together in the aim of achieving a common goal. Music education teaches perseverance concentration and focus; it affects students' general academic performance and endows them valuable skills that serve them later in life. Moreover, learning to play an instrument is a time consuming task, keeping children out of trouble. Music can be the start of a different, better life for the Bedouin community, and a new basis for establishing a fruitful cooperation and communication between the Bedouin and the Jewish communities. - GuitarBuster - - (Edit | Remove)

Areas of rain are expected across much of North Texas tonight and into Sunday. Temperatures will drop to near freezing which may result in some icing on elevated surfaces, but no significant travel impacts are expected. The area with the best chance for light freezing rain is north of Interstate 20. - GuitarBuster - - (Edit | Remove)
I just got back home from a quick tour around the I-20, Highway 121 and Hulen Blvd. interchanges, looks like icing will start soon. - GuitarBuster - - (Edit | Remove)

Exercise: Sit in a comfortable chair and seek out negative feelings, like anger, depression, anxiety, boredom, whatever. Concentrate on these feelings for 15 minutes. During the rest of the day, keep them in the back of your mind, no matter what you’re doing. - GuitarBuster - - (Edit | Remove)

Trinity River Vision Uproots Residents - http://www.fwweekly.com/2014...

Susan Bethke, a seven-year resident of the Scenic Bluff area, chose her house northeast of downtown for its location near her son’s school and their church. From the get-go, she knew the area — consisting mainly of small, modest homes — was prime real estate for developers, both for its views of downtown and its location near the Trinity River Vision project. But she never imagined how abruptly her and her neighbors’ lives could change. Bethke’s rented house, plus two nearby homes and the 133 duplex units of Parkview Village Apartments, are currently owned by Bob Joplin. In August, residents of these properties were given notice to vacate their homes in 30 days, the minimum time allowed under state law. The hand-delivered letters did not name the property buyer, the Dallas real estate investment group Cienda Partners. - GuitarBuster - - (Edit | Remove)

When Slovenian prefabber RIKO and Philippe Starck introduced the PATH prefab last year I was somewhat critical, comparing it to another house and writing The Starck difference between two "green" prefabs: This is the worst kind of green design; build a glass box, put a green roof on it and then throw money at gizmos. - GuitarBuster - - (Edit | Remove)

Bandolim de 10 Cordas - Rafael Ferrari - Regis Bonilha Luthier http://www.youtube.com/watch...
1 decade ago from Friendfeed - Comment - Hide - - - (Edit | Remove) - More...
Bandolim Campeiro, for the first time, presents the mandolin playing the genres and rhythms of gaúcho (“cowboy”) music culture of southern Brazil, such as milonga, vanera, chamamé, chacarera, etc.. The project also reintroduces forgotten gaúcho composers, and shows the unknown beauty of the music of Rio Grande do Sul to the rest of the world. A typical instrument in choro music (one of the foundations of Brazilian popular music), in the context of Bandolim Campeiro, the mandolin becomes a partner of traditional accordions and guitars in ensembles of Rio Grande do Sul. In this mix, Rafael Ferrari adapts the repertoire and traditions of his land and makes a fusion of traditional Brazilian mandolin performance with the repertoire, composers, and instrumentalists known only in the south, to the rest of Brazil by approximating with choro. In addition to playing melodies and rhythms never before played with a mandolin, Bandolim Campeiro presents a traditional repertoire from Rio Grande do Sul with original arrangements of songs by Yamandú Costa, Renato Borghetti, Luiz Carlos Borges, Albino Manique, Gilberto Monteiro, Antoninho Duarte, among others. Rafael Ferrari performs his project Bandolim Campeiro in solo format or in ensembles ranging from duo, trio, quartet. - GuitarBuster - - (Edit | Remove)
