In an online video Wednesday, a gun-rights activist pushing for legislation allowing Texans to openly carry handguns tells state legislators that “treason is punishable by death.”
Kory Watkins of Open Carry Tarrant County posted the video on YouTube, then pulled it, but not before another user uploaded it. The link was then shared by groups that oppose open-carry legislation.
In the four-minute video, Watkins, 31, says: “We should be demanding these people give us our rights back, or it’s punishable by death. Treason. Do you understand how serious this is, Texas?”
The Texas Constitution says a person can be convicted of treason only for waging war or supporting enemies of the state.
Watkins tells viewers to do “more than foots in doors.” He was apparently referring to his confrontation with Rep. Alfonso “Poncho” Nevarez at the Texas Capitol on Jan. 13, during which a gun-rights activist put his foot in a door to keep it from closing.

I’ve been tracking various reactions to the updated assessment of “planetary boundaries” — nine physical or biological parameters that define “a safe operating space for humanity.” Given that the goal of this Dot Earth journey is to clarify how to fit our seemingly infinite aspirations on a finite planet, such efforts have great value. But so does the ensuing discussion among researchers with varied vantage points on this analysis.

Driss El Maloumi was born in Agadir, Morocco in 1970. He went on to obtain a Master's degree in Arabic literature from the Ibn Zohr University in Agadir in 1993. At the same time he studied both classical Middle Eastern music and Western music, and was awarded prizes for his oud playing by the Conservatoire National de Musique in Rabat for three successive years between 1992 and 1994. He also absorbed influences from tribal Berber music and jazz; indeed his first recording was a joint effort with saxophonist Alban Darche. He has worked with a number of other musicians from Europe, Iran, India, North Africa and the Middle East, but perhaps his most innovative project was 3MA, a collaboration with musicians from Madagascar and Malawi.

A warning to herbal supplement users: Those store-brand ginkgo biloba tablets you bought may contain mustard, wheat, radish and other substances decidedly non-herbal in nature, but they’re not likely to contain any actual ginkgo biloba.
That’s according to an investigation by the New York State attorney general’s office into store-brand supplements at four national retailers — GNC, Target, Walgreens and Wal-Mart. All four have received cease-and-desist letters demanding that they stop selling a number of their dietary supplements, few of which were found to contain the herbs shown on their labels and many of which included potential allergens not identified in the ingredients list.

The largest black willow tree in the State of Texas has been accidentally cut down in the White Rock Lake area of Dallas.
Dallas Park and Recreation Department official Oscar Carmona said that the 170-year-old black willow was mistakenly cut down by a contract crew grinding tree stumps. He told The Dallas Morning News that the crew made the decision to cut down the tree without consulting anyone.

Celtic Cross Weissenborn copy. <a href="#387</a>" target="_blank">http://friendfeed.com/sea... ; was originally made for someone a couple of years back , and they cancelled the order. It has been in the shop [as have all the others on the site ] since . It was used as a demo for folks that came into my shop to try out and test drive some Weissenborns. There are a some very minor cosmetic things wrong with it. Nothing serious thought, hence the price mark down.
