Almost everything: all external expectations, all pride all fear of embarrassment or failure. These things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. - http://friarw.tumblr.com/post...

Setting in a clergy gathering and using my phone's tethering ability to be online without having wifi. This is so cool. I never need be bored at these meetings again. :^)
Well, I did plug my phone into the laptop to keep it charging, and I changed the settings on the computer to eco mode, so that kept me going throughout the meeting. :^)

Tomorrow's sermon is more of a teaching sermon on the roles of the pastor and church members in ministry. It probably won't be of much interest to anybody, but here it is with the accompanying powerpoint slides for anyone who wants to read it. If you can make it through the message, let me know what you think. :^)

My church has no power and no heat. Also a flat roof is leaking badly - some 30+ buckets in three rooms and two hallways. The power may not be restored until Sunday. Considering cancelling services by Saturday morning if the situation has not changed.
Well, some good news. I just heard the power is back on (it went off on Tuesday night). I'm going to head down to the church to check on the multitude of leaks in a few minutes.

Since Jim shared a dream he had the another night, here is one I had from early this morning. Monique was a United Methodist Pastor who had a gun pulled on her in the street. She took the gun from the assailant and performed a citizen's arrest on his ass. That is all.

Yes, it is awful outside - at least 6 inches of snow and it still going. And yes, I out in it since I had to meet Comcast at the church for phone/internet/cable installation. I don't think I can get to my house yet since there has been almost no plowing yet, and I am on a hill.
Not to mention the driveway is a little hill as well. So, I am Applebees having lunch and watching the snow accumulate.

Super Bowl menu (not counting what guests will bring): Bar-b-que pork, Cheesy vegetable casserole, a cool carrot and cabbage dish, pigs in a blanket (my daughter's offering), baba ganoush, hummus, and walnut pecan shortbread - all made by yours truly. :^) Y'all come on over. There'll be plenty here to eat.
Also, send some good thoughts and/or prayers for Jim since he is sick. Hopefully he will be better tomorrow and able to come over with his wife and daughter to enjoy the food and fun.

It's almost 1 am and I am still working on my sermon and presentation for tomorrow. Heck, I've got 7 and half more hours before I have to be finished. :^)
The prayers are finished. The Baba Ganoush is made, as is the Hummus. The pork is now tender and will be ready for the bar-b-que sauce and slow cooker tomorrow afternoon. The ingredients for the shortbread cookies are all measured and ready for mixing. The vegie dishes have to wait since I forgot the cream of mushroom soup and sesame oil. Gah.

All of you folks who use tumblr . . . the archive function on tumblr no longer lets me choose the month to look at. I've tried this in several different browsers with the same results. Anyone else have this issue.
I'm seeing the same behavior - if you scroll down, you can get to other months, but that's really cumbersome.
