My Aunt Lois was always concerned with the uplift of the race. She was no "race woman". But she had seen what Jim Crow had done to the dignity of black people. She was all about building and keeping "respectability." She was not much for blues but she loved B.B. And rightly so. B.B. never did anything to publicly embarrass himself (or the race). And he carried himself in a dignified manner. Consequently, it surprises me that "Sweet Sixteen" was her favorite B.B. cut.
